ACS Materials Letters: A home for transformative materials research One of the greatest accomplishments for scientists is to communicate their findings through publication. With nearly 20,000 journals currently indexed in Web of Science, authors have to make challenging decisions of where to submit their work. The process that leads to publication can be complex, and may seem overwhelming to first time authors. ACS Publications aims to make the submission and publication process easier for authors, and with 60 journals in its portfolio, ACS Publications is highly regarded for the depth, breadth, and quality of the research published in chemistry and related sciences. In this seminar, I will describe my experience as a Senior Managing Editor within ACS Publications, and detail some key aspects of the peer review process. I will devote most of my talk to describe the scope and milestones of ACS Materials Letters, which publishes high-quality and urgent contributions on the forefront of fundamental and applied research, at the interface between materials and other disciplines, such as chemistry, engineering and biology.
